Also, sorry if Sub-Zero beats your favorite character, but hey, the story is about him and it wouldn't be much of a story if he lost all the time. :) -Jim Sub-Zero, Part 5 In spite of how much I may have previously hated him, Johnny Cage now seemed like a very personable guy. He told me of the first tournament, and about all the fighters. He also talked about the battles, how he had killed Kano, how Scorpion had killed my brother, and how Kano killed Sonya in an endurance match. He said that Scorpion and Raiden were immortal, and if he ran into Scorpion, he would try and explain about me. "John, what about the other fights you had here? You mentioned that I was your third fight. Who were the other two against?" Any advantage I could get over other fighters would be of great help. "Well, my first fight was against Jax. Let me tell you, he is one tough hombre. He grabbed me by my neck, and..." "I get the picture." All I could remember was Jax yelling 'Gotcha!', then everything starting to spin. I shuddered at the thought. "Did you win?" "Yes. But barely. We went all three rounds, but in the end, he was ducking my energy bolt, so I just threw one low." Cage grinned. "Afterwards, I asked him why we were fighting. He said he didn't know. All he could feel was hate and anger. Come to think of it, so did I." I told Cage about Shang Tsung's mind control magic. "It must be how he got you and Jax to fight." "Yeah, well he didn't need it on the second fight. I was running along the path, and ran into this HUGE monster-looking guy. He was about seven feet tall and he had razor sharp teeth, with these blades that came out of his arms. His name was Baraka. Really a brute strength type of fighter. All I can say is don't jump kick him unless you have him off guard." "You won, didn't you?" "Yeah, I guess I did. I was two to nothing until you came along. Thanks a lot. Breaking my winning streak. That was cold. Really cold!" This time, I groaned out loud. For the next half hour or so, we started discussing some of his movies. He didn't like the fact that I said Chuck Norris was a bit more realistic than him, but hey, I had to be honest. By this time, we had walked out of the forest. Cage was looking at the surroundings. "Man, what a desolate place this is." He wasn't kidding. Ruins of buildings littered the landscape. It looked as though a immense battle had taken place here, although the lack of bodies suggested it happened a long time ago. Cage nudged my arm. "Hey, looks like we have company." Two women stepped out of the shadows in our path. They looked identical, except one wore a purple outfit and the other a blue one. Masks concealed the lower halves of their faces. They had a strange beauty about them, but I didn't trust it. They looked like they could be deadly. "Do you think they could be competitors in this tournament?" asked Cage. "I don't know. Do you want to try and talk to them?" Cage put on his sun glasses. "You know it, buddy." He started walking over towards the two women. The one in blue moved forward, only to be stopped by the one in purple. I felt a wall of force push me away from Cage. The girl in blue obviously felt the same thing. She looked Cage over and shouted "Be careful, Mileena!" to her twin. Mileena started off with a jump kick. It was the only move she got off in the first round. Cage landed a shadow kick right in her chest. He never let up after that. "Johnny Cage wins." The next round, Mileena never even got off a punch. Cage immediately tore into her and didn't stop until he heard "FINISH HER!" Cage looked towards me, and I shrugged. He turned back towards Mileena and punched her in the face. She fell to the ground. "Johnny Cage wins. Flawless victory." I was glad that Cage had won, but I wish I could have had a chance to see some of Mileena's fighting style, just in case I ever had to fight her. He strutted back over towards me wearing his sun glasses. "You know, John, there's no sun. Why do you wear those things?" "When you're as cool as I am, the sun never ceases to shine on you." The girl in blue stepped forward, motioning for me to come forward. "I think it's my turn," I said. "Good luck, Sub." The girl in purple had vanished. Only her sister was here. "You won't be as lucky as your friend over there was." "Round one, FIGHT!" said the disembodied voice. I immediately launched a flying kick into the girl's face. Good thing, too, being that she threw some sort of metal fan, which I happened to jump over. My victory was short lived as she sliced me across the chest with another fan. Blood started to ooze out onto my uniform. I jumped straight up, to hop kick her, but I never got the move off. She started spinning her fan in her hand, and I felt wave after wave of some sort of energy lifting me off the ground. I was unable to move. I felt something hit me in the face, then an undescribable pain as I felt my stomach being sliced apart. I landed with a heavy thud on the ground, only to have her pick me up, bend over backwards, and slam me back down to the ground. I was bleeding profusely, unable to stand. "Katina wins!" Once again, all the pain was suddenly gone. I stood up to face her again. "Round two, FIGHT!" This time, I was ready. She threw her fan at me, but I ducked and came up throwing a blast of cold at her. She froze in place. I jumped into the air and landed in front of her. I could hear Cage cheering in the background. My round house kick, jump kick, hop kick, ground freeze, uppercut, slide combo ended the fight. The third round went even better. "FINISH HER!" As I remembered the pain of her fan hitting me in the stomach, the thought of killing her crossed my mind. Nah. I mentally slapped myself for even thinking it. I 'finished her' by back handing her in the face. "Sub-Zero wins." I raised my hand in triumph. "Way to go, Sub. You know, I was thinking......" Cage's form started to fade from in front of me. "Johnny!" He disappeared, with a horrified look on his face. The voice that announced the rounds spoke out. "You were too dangerous to have together. You defeated my two best assassins. You shall make the remainder of your journey separately." "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!?!?!" I screamed. Laughter was the only answer I received. I was once again alone. Still more to come.....absolutely.
